FERRIES & TRANSPORT TO TABOGA ISLAND PANAMA

Approximately 12 miles from Panama City towards the Pearl Islands (Las Perlas),  just 25 to 50 minutes by ferry.

We can help you by introducing you to a trusted taxi driver who will drive you from the airport (or your hotel) to your destination in the city or the Ferry (if your flight arrival works with their schedule). If you need help finding a room in the city we are happy to recommend several B&B’s or small hotels.

Note: BANK MACHINES-ATMs on Isla Taboga, there are NONE, please bring cash or credit card (Cerrito Tropical accepts cash plus Visa and Mastercard – most places on Taboga do not accept credit cards)

From Panama City, you can reach Taboga Island using several FERRY BOAT options:

The 2 Ferry companies have regular sailings to Taboga Island. Arrive 1 hour before departure time to ensure a seat. On Holidays & during Vacation Periods it may be busier so arrive earlier or purchase your tickets in advance.

By Calypso Ferry (schedule below). Leaves from Amador Causeway, Mi Playita near Mi Ranchito Restaurant, it is like a mini cruise along the Panama Canal. The trip takes one relaxing hour in a large boat (not a car ferry).

Arrive at least 1 hour before departure, on busy days the ferries can be full, and there can be unforeseen delays on the city streets.

Calypso is located at La Playita near Mi Ranchito Restaurant, Amador Causeway, about 20 minutes from downtown and about a $8 taxi fare.

NOTE: This is not Muelle 18 as in some old guidebooks. NO FERRIES leave from Muelle 18.

NATIONAL TOURS FERRY BOAT SCHEDULE PANAMA CITY TO TABOGA ISLAND

By Mogo Mogo Ferry, National Tours. A newer company located in Panama City at the end of the pier of Balboa Yacht Club on Amador Causeway near Country Suites Hotel and TGI Friday Restaurant. Buy the tickets beside the Yacht Club clubhouse. The trip takes about 30 minutes and is $1 more than Calypso. Smaller boats, faster than Calypso, but can be wet and rough in poor weather.

DEPART DAILY
Depart Panama City: 8:30 am and 3 pm
Depart Taboga: Return at 9 am and 4 pm from Taboga Island.

Go to Taboga Island By Private Boat
A local water taxi can pick you up in Panama City at the end of the pier of Balboa Yacht Club on Amador Causeway near Country Suites Hotel and Fridays; (we can make a reservation for you – we need 2 days advance notice). The trip takes about 30 minutes and is approximately $100 for the boat (up to 8 people).

Once On Taboga
Once on the island, you can walk to Cerrito Tropical in 10 minutes from the pier (we are on a hill), or we recommend to have us organize a local taxi-truck pick you up. There are no cars on Taboga only a handful of small trucks. Rate is $1.50 per person (or possibly less; since there are different owners they may negotiate).
